What to put on an invoice

  • Your business name and how to reach you.
  • The client’s name, and the job address if you work on site.
  • A unique invoice number, so both of you can refer to it.
  • The invoice date and a real due date, not just the terms.
  • What you did, with quantities and prices.
  • The total, with tax shown on its own line if you charge it.
  • How to pay: bank details or a payment link.
  • Your late fee terms, if you have them.

The guide to invoice payment terms covers which terms get you paid fastest and the exact wording to use.

After you send it

Most late payments are forgotten invoices, not refusals. Plan a short reminder three days before the due date and another on the day. The payment reminder generator writes both for you.

Or just text Ody the job

Tell Ody who, what and how much. It drafts the invoice with your terms, sends it from your email after your OK, and follows up if it is late.
